New feature: Import Products

$

0

Recently we’ve introduced new feature to HostBill allowing to import to import all current prices of all available TLDs from domain registrars. Based on that functionality we’re added new function to HostBill: importing products from app/servers.

This feature is currently available for Resello CSP module, but we will be adding this feature for other modules as well (follow our weekly changelog for updates).

How does it work?

The import tool is available under Extras -> Import services -> Product Import.

To be able to import products you need to first configure a sample product that will act as a “source of data” for all items that import can’t automatically determine, such as automation settings etc. Once the first package is configured, you can have HostBill automatically import remaining products from the app server, as well as keep their prices/portfolio in synchronization.

Create Product Profile

To proceed with products import you need to create a product profile that will be connected with chosen app/server. For each import profile you can set your default margin added to the imported pricing (percentage or fixed amount). You can also define whether or not HostBill should periodically pull price changes and update related products automatically (Auto-update feature). Optionally you can use “Update prices with current profile now” button to do so manually at any given time. HostBill can also fill missing products – import all new products that are not in your offer, and update missing periods – if the server does not return periods that you currently offer, their prices can be auto-updated based on minimal prices.

Override settings per product

The settings configured in the product profile can be easily overridden per product – chosen product(s) can have its own margins, different from profile. You can also turn on overwrite protect feature for product – when enabled, your prices set for this product in Product Configuration will not be overwritten. If this checkbox is set and the product does not exist in HostBill it will not be imported.

Override settings per product

You can find out more about importing product from the related article in our knowledge base.

Free products are offered based on a pre-defined conditions. To configure the offer first choose one or more product/services from your portfolio that free products will be offered as an addition to. These products/services can be already active or pending or in client’s cart. Then define which products/services from your portfolio will be added for free.

Support Fields plugin v3 released!

HostBill support tools are designed to optimize your customer service. The newest version of Support Fields plugin allows you to gather more information about the support issue, product or service using a range of options!

Support Fields plugin

Support Fields plugin is an addition to HostBill Ticketing System that enables to organize and manage tickets more efficiently and to reduce spam messages. The plugin allows to create multiple forms that clients need to fill in before submitting a ticket. Simply ask your customer for the information that is necessary for you to provide the user with the best possible support!

Support Fields v3 – what’s new?

In the new version of the plugin we’ve added new form types that you can use. You can choose an inline form which will be displayed on a page where the ticket is created or you can display the form on a separate page. There are two separate page form types available: wizard style, where you can configure a number of steps the client needs to go through before submitting the ticket or single page, where all field types are displayed on a single page.

New Support Fields plugin also includes a number of new field types, that can help you quickly gather information you need. New field types include related ticket, text area, encrypted text area (secure input), date picker, radio boxes, select priority (which will set the ticket priority in a result), text block and scrollable text block. For the name and description fields we’ve added the opportunity to add a translation to cater to your international audience needs!

Adding new field to the form

The fields can be set as an ‘admin only’, as the plugin gives admins the possibility to fill in the form when creating the ticket on behalf of the customer and to edit form that have been filled in by customers. This way support staff can add relevant internal notes to the forms.

Fields can be easily edited and rearranged by drag& drop. Although each form can consist of unlimited number of various fields, if needed you can now temporarily hide certain fields from the form, instead of removing it for good.

In the Support Fields v3 plugin the form can be automatically converted into a ticket. You can define which field value should be used as a subject and which one should be used as a ticket body.

Once the form is created, it will be automatically displayed to clients wishing to submit a ticket to a certain department:

The client area now also gives the client the opportunity to list the tickets related to a certain service or product in the product section!

Upgrade your plugin now or if you don’t have the plugin yet you can buy it from our marketplace!

Find out more on how to use Support Fields from plugin’s documentation page.

New Stripe payment modules with Strong Customer Authentication

$

0

This week we’ve introduced two new Stripe payment modules with Strong Customer Authentication: Stripe Checkout v2 and Stripe Intents – 3D Secure integration.

Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)

The Strong Customer Authentication is the new requirement of the European Union aimed at reducing fraud and making online payments more secure. It requires that electronic payments are performed with multi-factor authentication. Strong Customer Authentication is an important element of PSD2 – European Union directive first introduced in 2007 and revised in 2015 to regulate payment services and payment service providers, which comes into full effect on 14 September 2019. The directive affects businesses operating within European Union and processing online payments for customers from the EU. SCA will apply only to “customer-initiated” payments and as recurring payments are considered “merchant-initiated” they will not require strong authentication.

Stripe Checkout v2 and Stripe Intents – 3D Secure integration with Strong Customer Authentication

Two of our Stripe integrations: Stripe Checkout v2 and Stripe Intents – 3D Secure now fully support Strong Customer Authentication.

Stripe Payment Intents enable to process one-time payments using Stripe’s new foundational payments API. Stripe Checkout is a smart payment page that works seamlessly across devices and allows to process both one-time and recurring payments using credit and debit cards. Now the modules not only automatically handle SCA requirements but also ensure that you only ask customers to provide additional authentication when strictly necessary.

Stripe integrations use 3D Secure 2 method to authenticate a payment – a new version of a well known 3D Secure protocol. In comparison to the older version 3D Secure 2 introduces a better user experience that will help minimize some of the friction that authentication adds into the checkout flow. 3D Secure 2 is now dynamically taking place of the older version, with European banks implementing new version for their cardholders to fully comply with the PSD2.

This week in HostBill we’re launching new payment gateway integration and adding new support tickets source, enabling your clients to submit tickets using text messages!

Culqi payment gateway

Extensive list of payment gateways integrated with HostBill keeps on growing! This week we’re launching integration with Culqi payment gateway. Culqi is a payment processing company based in Lima, Peru, that enables to accept credit and debit cards payments online. Culqi is a reliable and secure payment solution trusted by many enterprises from Latin America. Culqi payment gateway allow to process payments onsite – payment in being processed in background, so your client will not leave HostBill UI to finish the transaction. The gateway supports quick and easy one-click refunds from invoice details and tokenization – it provides h a token to securely use it for subsequent card charged. The gateway also allows HostBill to process recurring charges. Customer card / payment profile can be automatically captured by HostBill when recurring invoice is issued.

New support tickets source: SMSEagle

HostBill allows to import messages into the ticketing system from email using two methods: POP and PIPE. Email Forwarder – the PIPE Method allows emails sent to an email address to be automatically imported into the support ticket system. As a result clients can open and reply to tickets via email without the need to login to the client area first. Remote login to mailbox – POP Method is an application-layer Internet standard protocol used by local email clients to retrieve email from a remote server over a TCP/IP connection. When you decide to choose this method you need to proceed a few-step configuration.

We’ve now added new channel to import messages from, giving your customers yet another way to contact you using their mobile devices! Each Ticket Department can now enable importing mobile messages and converting them into a ticket, using SMS Eagle mobile notification module.

Select source of the tickets

To be able to use this module for ticket import, you need to make sure it’s activated. Once enabled, your customers will have the ability to send you text messages which will be instantly and automatically converted into tickets. Moreover, each ticket created and submitted in client area can trigger a mobile notification to a staff member and the other way around – each ticket reply can also be sent to a client via a text message!

Thanks to this feature your clients can stay connected with your customer service team all the time, providing them with multi-channel yet centralized support service.

Due to the latest changes in cPanel license pricing we’ve updated our cPanel Manage2 module for resellers and enabled metered billing for this module!

cPanel Manage2 module for HostBill

Manage2 is a tool built by cPanel for resellers to manage licenses for their customers. cPanel Manage2 module for HostBill allows to sell cPanel Licenses and automate license management. HostBill also gives the possibility to set automation rules to expire the license on suspension or termination and reactivate it on unsuspension. The modules is a perfect tool to offer cPanel software licenses either as a separate product or sub-product to your VPS/Cloud offer.

cPanel update to account-based pricing

Recently, cPanel announced new pricing model – account based. cPanel pricing and licensing will now be standardized for all customers and will be billed monthly and include multiple Tiers. More on the new cPanel pricing can be found on their website.

Metered cPanel licenses billing

To adjust to the changes introduced to cPanel pricing and help you make a shift to account based pricing we’ve updated our cPanel Manage2 module and added the support for metered billing for number of active licenses. Metered billing is already supported for many of our modules, including Cloudstack, Onapp and Proxmox. Now also cPanel Manage2 module allows to you charge your customers for actual number of active accounts used. If license price is account based you can not only enable metered billing but also and let both client and the admin track license usage.

Client area – license details and usage
Admin area – metered billing details

To set metered billing for Manage2 module, in product configuration under General tab simply select Metered under Price options and set pricing brackets per number of active accounts. For current cPanel pricing layout, Stairstep scheme appears to be most suited, where total cost is calculated based on price bracket and the charge is for entire bracket not certain units.

Metered billing configuration

New feature for HostBill allows you to set limits of resource usage, monitor it and trigger certain actions upon exceeding the limits.

Account Metrics Feature

The new Account Metrics feature for HostBill was built to download resource consumption information for certain account from connected hosting module. Thanks to this feature HostBill is able to collect various resources usage information such as disk space, traffic, CPU consumption, number of users or licenses and more. The information can be used to trigger certain automation task if the usage limit gets exceeded, for example to send a message to the client or open a ticket.

Account Metrics configuration

When configuring a product connected with the module that supports Account metrics feature, a ‘Quotas’ tab is displayed with all the metrics available for this account. Each module that supports this feature have different set of account metrics. Admin can decide which metrics to monitor by setting the limits and the number of days when the limit can be exceeded for to trigger certain action.

Defining quotas in product configuartion

The triggers can be defined in automation tasks. It can include account suspension or termination, sending an email, opening support ticket, changing billing cycle and more.

Creating automation task

Each metric can have multiple limits that trigger different actions. For example, when monitoring disk space:

  • at 80% usage you can send the client the information that they are running out of disk space
  • at 90% usage you can open a support ticket to inform that if the usage exceeds the limit the account will be suspended
  • at 100% usage you can suspend the account

Admin can enable/disable ‘Quota Usage’ client function to allow client track resources usage. Admin can choose if a specific metric should be displayed in client area.

‘Quota usage’ client funtion

Account Metrics in client area

The clients can see all the metrics for their accounts in their client area (in Services -> Product -> Quota Usage tab) providing that the metrics are flagged by admin as ‘Show in client area’. The clients can see the limits and actual usage at the given moment.

Feature-packed new release!

This week our release is packed with new features! New options allow to add promotional codes to invoices, merge unpaid invoices, replace hostname with form field. We’re also happy to present new payment gateway integration: Coinbase Commerce!

Coinbase Commerce payment gateway

Coinbase Commerce payment gateway is another digital currencies payment company that HostBill now supports! Founded in 2012, Coinbase is a digital currency wallet and platform where merchants and consumers can transact with new digital currencies like bitcoin, ethereum and litecoin. Coinbase makes digital currency accessible and approachable for everyone by creating user-focused products that are easier and more intuitive to use. With Coinbase there’s no fees to accept crypto and payment are irreversible, making chargebacks a thing of the past. Start using Coinbase payment gateway and accept payment in bitcoin from your client worldwide!

Promotional Codes for invoices

HostBill promotional codes feature allows to generate discount codes for your customers. HostBill provides multiple features to configure the codes according to your needs (discounts can be fixed price or percentage, applicable only to new or existing clients, valid for a certain range of products etc). Until now, codes could be only used for the order in cart but now we’ve added the possibility to apply codes for unpaid invoices. To generate such code, when creating new coupon, choose ‘invoice coupon’ in the coupon type field. Invoice coupons apply only to the total price, can be only applied once and can be used only for existing customers.

Adding new invoice coupon

If there is a valid Invoice Coupon generated by admin, a ‘Apply coupon’ button on the client invoice will appear.

Once the code is submitted by the client, it will be added to the invoice as a discount.

Invoice coupons can also be automatically send to client via email. If you have active invoice coupons in your system, you can edit your invoice-related templates (such as notification about new invoice, invoice reminders, invoice overdue notices and so on) and auto-assign related coupon to email notification, to encourage customer to pay for invoice with additional discount applied.

Merge Unpaid Invoices

As a comprehensive invoicing solution HostBill provides multitude of options allowing to manage your invoices. New feature added in this week’s release allows to merge client’s unpaid invoices into one. To merge invoices click on More actions button in the unpaid invoice details and  simply select other invoices of this customer (available from the drop down menu) to merge them into current one. Items from selected invoices will be added to this invoice, and selected invoices will be removed.

Click on More Actions -> Merge invoices
Select invoices from the drop-down list.

Replace hostname with form field

In HostBill, each product (except from domains) bought by a customer creates an account, listed in the ‘Accounts’ section in admin area. Usually, accounts are assigned to a domain/hostname. If the product doesn’t have any domain linked it makes it hard to identify the service on the account listing. To solve this problem we’re giving you the opportunity to replace hostname with the form field in the account listing. Simply add a text input from component, and in Input Settings tick ‘Replace hostname’. When enabled, value of this field will always replace account domain/hostname, simplifying service identification.

Replace hostname with text input form field.

This week in HostBill we’re launching new premium domain registrar integration: Nic.at. We’re also adding new features to Inventory Manager and Gateway per Client modules.

Nic.at domain registrar

Nic.at is the official registry for all domains ending in .at (the official Austria domain), and for the extensions co.at and or.at with more than 1.3 million registered .at domains. NIC.at is a subsidiary of the Internet Foundation Austria (IPA). HostBill provides a number of options to automate all aspects of Nic.at domain management – from registration, through transfer, expiration reminders to automatic renewals. HostBill also ensures automatic synchronization of your domain names with the registrar to make sure that details you store are up to date. What is more, HostBill gives you the opportunity to order and manage domains in bulk: set privacy, name-servers, auto-renewal and other settings for number of domains with just a few mouse clicks.

The Nic.at domain registrar module is premium and is available for purchase in HostBill marketplace.

Inventory Manager update

HostBill Inventory Manager module helps you to keep track of every item your company owns and sells and categorize assets into categories and item types. With Inventory Manager you can track every item by its manufacturer, vendor, serial number and even physical location in your company. It helps you to create your own structures and manage/resell any asset like software, licenses, hardware, services.

With this week’s update we’ve added a couple of new functionalities to the module. First of all we’ve added the option to edit print sticker template. All inventory items have labels that can be printed out. Each label have a QR code which can include item serial number, ID and URL. Label template can now be easily edited and downloaded as a PDF document.

New option also allows customers to select items from inventory during order. It can be done through Inventory Manager Provisioning module – a Hosting/Provisioning module shipped with Inventory Manager plugin. This module was built to be used with HostBill products and connect product offering available to customer in cart with inventory manager stock. Product using Inventory Manager Provisioning module can be configured in two ways, either using Server builds feature or using Components -> Forms in product configuration (please see related documentation article for detailed instructions).

Gateway per Client module update

Gateway per Client module was created to help you manage incoming transactions and increase security. The module allowed to limit the choice of payment gateways per client. Thanks to new functionalities you can now also decide which payment gateways will be available for specific product, account billing cycle or customer country.
The module also helps to reduce chargebacks costs and can be especially useful if you want to give the customer the ability to pay for the order that was marked as fraud. In this case HostBill can automatically limit the choice of gateways available for customer i.e: only to those that does not allow customer to refund (ie. Bitcoin payment).

Ownership change approval

This week we’re also presenting new feature for service ownership change. HostBiill allows clients to change service or domain owner and transfer ownership to other users. New functionality added to HostBill requires the new owner to accept the ownership before it could be assigned.

In General Settings->Other->Client Permissions you can now decide how the service owner change is being processed: either after client change service to new order it can be transferred immediately  or each request needs to be approved by the new owner.

How to proceed with service ownership change

If the client want to assign the service/domain to another owner they need to use “Change owner” option in service details and enter new owner email address. The transfer is then assigned with ‘pending’ status and until not approved by the new owner it can be cancelled.

The recipient gets notified via email (using the new email template), via portal notification and on the page with transfer confirmation. Once the transfer is approved (or rejected) by the recipient, the previous owner will also get notifications.
